An aromatic and flavourful sambar podi to make tiffin / hotel sambar.
Ingredients - Channa dal, Jeera, Coriander, Methi, Curry leaves, garlic, black pepper, red chillies, turmeric, asafoetida, kopra
Method - Take tamarind extract - from a lemon sized tamarind. Saute small onions, tomatoes, capsicum pieces. Add pumpkin, drum sticks. ( veggies are optional and you can use whichever veggie you want ). Add to tamarind extract. Add 3 heaped spoons of mylaporekitchens hotel sambar podi. let it boil and cook for about 10 - 15 minutes. add a small piece of jaggery. add pressure cooked toor dal or moon dal. tadka - use coconut oil or sesame oil - mustard seeds, red chillies, fenugreek, curry leaves, hing. garnish with frsh chopped coriander. serve hot with chutnet as a side for idlis, dosa, pongal, vada.
