A simple thogayal using zucchini
Ingredients

Zucchini chopped
-
Urad dal
-
Channa dal
-
Red chillies - 8 to 10 or to taste
-
Tamarind - gooseberry sized
- Jaggery to taste
-
Salt
-
Oil
-
Mustard seeds
-
Asafoetida
-
Coconut - optional
Directions
Roast chopped zucchini, urad dal, channa dal and red chillies.
- Add all other ingredients and grind coarse and thick. Dont add too much water.
- Optional - you can lightly roast the coconut.
- Tempering - coconut oil, mustard seeds, red chillies, urad dal, hing, curry leaves.
Recipe Note
Thogayal recipes are mostly the same. Slight variations for a few like coconut or mango thogayal.
Sauté the veggie - in this case, chopped zucchini. Can substitute with chow chow, peerkkankai etc.
