A delicious and super healthy recipe that I learnt from my friend Damithra, recently. This is a Sri Lankan recipe. This is called Gotukola Sambal in Sri Lanka.
Ingredients
- Vallarai Keerai - a big handful.
- Small onions - a handful
- Green chillies - 2
- Salt to taste
- Lemon juice to taste
- Grated coconut - a handful
Directions
- Pluck the Keerai leaves, clean well and chop finely. Wash and chop the small onions and green chillies finely too. Mix all this in a bowl. Add salt and grated coconut. Mix. Add lemon juice. Serve fresh.
The flavour is so refreshing and I am going to eat this as often as I can!
Recipe Note
Scientifically known as Centella Asiatica, this green leafy plant is locally called “Vallarai Keerai” in Tamil, “Mandukaparni” in Sanskrit, “Sarswati” in Hindi and “Swaraswataku” in Telugu.
