How to make Instant Rava Upma with @Mylapore Kitchens Instant Rava Upma Mix
Ingredients
-
MK Instant Rava Upma Mix
-
Onions - optional
-
Tomatoes - optional
-
Green chillies - optional
-
Grated ginger - optional
-
Oil / ghee
-
Mixed veggies like carrots, beas, ppeas - optional
-
Salt - if needed, adjust to taste.
Directions
METHOD 1 - by adding vegetables
Heat kadai. Add oil / ghee. Add finely chopped onions, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves. Saute until onions turn translucent.
Add chopped tomatoes. Saute. Add mixed veggies and saute until done. You can add a little water to cook the veggies. Or you can microwave them and add ( that is what I do). Add salt as needed for the veggies.
Once all done, add 2.25 cups of water and let this boil.
Once the water boils, add 1 cup of MK Instant Rava Upma Mix little by little and mix well. Add a spoon of ghee (optional).
Stir continously and make sure there are no lumps. Keep stirring until the rava is completely cooked.
Lower the heat, cover and cook for a few more minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped coriander.
Serve with fresh coconut chutney and MK Avakkai pickle !
METHOD 2: Without veggies. Skip STEPS 1 & 2.
METHOD 3: This is for college kids or for those times when you don’t have access to a stove. Add boiling hot water (ratio 1:2) and keep it tighly convered for 10 minutes. Add a bit more boiling hot water if you feel it is undercooked and cover for another 5 minutes.
METHOD 4: Add water to mix and microwave in high for 8 minutes in a covered glass container. Ratio is 1 rava : 2 water. Or 2.25 water. Cook for a few more minutes if undercooked. It could vary depending on the machine.
