Ingredients

Baby potatoes

MK Red chilli powder

MK Turmeric powder

MK Sambar powder

Mustard seeds

Urad dal

Directions
Pressure cook baby potatoes - 3 whistles. Cool, peel and set aside. You can add a pinch of turmeric powder while pressure cooking to get a nice colour.
Heat kadai. Add ground nut oil or oil of your choice.
Temper with mustard seeds, urad dal, jeera, curry leaves and asafoetida.
OPTIONAL - Add sliced or finely chopped onions. Saute. Or you can skip this step.
Add cooked baby potatoes.
Add spice powders to taste - red chilli powder, sambar powder and salt. Mix well and roast on high flame for a few minutes while mixing continously to prevent burning.
Lower the heat and let it slow roast for sometime. 10-15 minutes. Stir in between to make sure it does not burn.
Serve hot with rice and sambar !
Recipe Note
Onions are totally optional. You can add tomatoes, green chilles and garlic too, if you are making a side for something like bisibelebath or a kichdi.
You can also use our other masalas instead of sambar powder - MK Madras masala, MK Chettinad masala, MK Mangalore masala. You can add a spoon of kashmiri chilli for better colour.
